4th of July

HOORAY FOR THE USA! HAPPY 233rd BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

My favorite holiday is July 4th! Most people think that is a little bit odd, but then considering who they are talking about, it's not really all that shocking! :)

I know people whose favorite holiday is Christmas, or Thanksgiving, or Easter, or Valentines Day. Many times I will ask them why that is their favorite holiday, and often they don't have an answer. But if you ask me why July 4th is my favorite, I do have an answer!

I like the fireworks, the parades, the cookouts, and the family and friends getting together. But most of all I LOVE patriotic spirit among Americans, the feeling of being proud to be in the most free country in the world. Today it doesn't matter who our President is, or that we now have a filibuster proof Senate, we can still claim the title of "FREE."

I could go on and on about how wonderful it is to be free, but I think all of us understand what that is, so today I'm simply thanking God for the gift of freedom, and for allowing me to be born in the most wonderful country in the world!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Amen, and amen!

We have a filibuster free Senate? When did they pass a law to suppress it?

they didn't...right now there are 60 democrats in the Senate which makes it filibuster proof! just a couple of days ago the disputed Senate race in Minnesota was decided with democrat Al Franken taking the seat, now there is really no hope for conservatives until the next Senate election!

Oh wow! That's terrible. One thing that's happened since I joined the Navy is that I don't follow politics like I used to! I guess it's just a matter of not wanting to sit down and take the time to watch the news. Plus I'm so far away it feels like there's nothing I can do sometimes!
